Culminating Activity

For my culminating activity, I've chosen to do the book review on the book Intelligence Reframed: Multiple Intelligences for the 21st Century by Howard Gardner. I've been interested in Howard Gardner since my sophomore year of college when we had to write a short biography about him for one of my education classes, but we were never able to get really in depth, especially regarding the use of technology in the MI's. As a teacher, it was always very important for me to give my students alternate assignments using the MI's, sometimes that included using technology, and other times it may not have. I've found that I learn using nearly all of the MI's, and I hope that by reading this book, I can learn how to help my students learn more effectively and how I can relate the MI's to technology more effectively.

Hi Keith-

It is exciting to see how each student is different and the various types of intelligences in one classroom. When I did my pre-internship this past spring I created a profile on each of my students by having mini-interviews with them at lunch. When I learned how they enjoyed learning and their specific intelligence it was easier later on to gear a lesson that fit their need. As I worked with one particular student this became more apparent.

After I read the article for this week (week 4) it refreshed my understanding on multiple intelligences. If you have started reading this book yet did the information relate to what Gardner says? I was wondering if you have read any reviews for this book yet and the ways in which Gardner incorporates technology to meet the different intelligences. I would like to hear your take on the book and how well Gardner addresses the technology used.
